Lameness for the Layman - Seminar Venue Criteria
This symposium has been presented in a variety of settings over the years. The most operative venues highlight the following features:
- An area (room, barn aisle, arena) large enough to seat 40+ people comfortably.
- A minimum of 4 available stalls.
- Easily-accessible restrooms.
- Multiple electrical outlets.
- An arena (preferably covered in case of inclement weather).
- A round pen with clear viewing options.
- Ample parking for participants.
- A place to park 3 or more trailers (for haul-ins).
In order to present the symposium, we require a minimum of 30 participants and 3 (live) lame horses. The latter are usually trailered-in by participants, who will received free evaluation as part of the wet lab (afternoon) portion the event.
Facility Promotion
Your facility will be highlighted as part of seminar advertising, as well as publicized during the event itself. Hosting is a great way to showcase your facility and services, as well as receive national recognition.
We recommend that you have brochures available for seminar participants, many of whom may be seeking boarding and/or training opportunities.
Payment
- $500 for the hosting facility per event.
- $300 for a handler (if needed), who will be responsible for managing the horses utilized for the wet lab (afternoon) portion of the event.
- Many facilities charge an additional day-board fee for wet lab horses requiring accommodations during the event.
